The Business Objectives
As a key component of our growth we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to acquire new customers. Customer acquisition is considered to be the critical activity and we are seeking to grow the number of customers. We understand that customer growth could be at the expense of profitability, and that there is a cost associated with customer acquisition. Our long term objective is to build a clear customer acquisition process.
The Customer
Home Comfort Cooking has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through a structured customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer opportunity as The need to have great tasting, traditional , comforting African food that reminds them of the taste of home. This is critical for the selected target market : The African community in the UK.
The Value Proposition
Home Comfort Cooking is uniquely positioned to deliver value to the African community. "Home Comfort Cooking will Complete any event, big or small! with real, great tasting , traditional African cuisine to make you feel closer to home." In order to deliver on this value proposition, This great tasting food is made by someone who cares and appreciates real african food not some corporate monster who wants to take your money! No false ingredients are used, only genuine methods and recipes passed down by generations are used which are bound to make any event a success! This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
Competitors
We have a number of competitors within the African Food catering market. We consider our key competitors to be mostly a few rare restaurants here and there as African food catering is still quite an underground and searched for industry. Our understanding of this has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively with what exists by using Secret and unique recipes passed down by great great grandparents! We have a real passion for providing great tasting African food for any event and plan to break through the market and introduce African cuisine to the mainstream catering world.
Key Strategies
Over the next 6 months our focus will be to Get to know Business owners in predominantly African neighbourhoods and develop a relationship with them which in turn would get them to promote my company leaflets in their establishment.
Give these business owners a free sample of my product on Fridays for a whole month! The first 5 leads from these business owners will get them a special mention in the most read African magazine in London. Each business will be listed in my company advert as people who have tried my products and recommend them to anyone. While my business is being advertised so will theirs inside my own advert. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to Get existing customers to refer their friends to me for catering events. Each new catering event I get, whoever referred the new business to me will get a £35 payout! These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.
Milestones
Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 12 months are: Obtain 25 new customers Obtain 50 new customers Make enough money to live off without needing a full time job
