It is known that feed costs play a major role in the total creation cost in commercial poultry farms. The feed market has become extra volatile over the past several years and prices have been growing.


Additionally, there is also sturdy competition between food and feed companies for using available resources. This case has increased production cost and added pressure on poultry makers.

Although a combination of corn and soybean meal is normally considered as gold standard (from any nutritional standpoint), wheat and barley are also being used in poultry rations in various areas of the world, including Europe, North america and Australia. There is currently a tendency from the poultry industry to move toward the use of alternative feed ingredients in the hope that this approach may help to lessen production costs.
